My Little Band.

I was in the kitchen the other morning making breakfast and when I walked into the living room this is how I found the boys.

"The Lewis Brothers Band"
The headphones are killing me.
When he "DJ's" he has to wear them.
I think he considers them to be an essential part of music making.
I can't wait to show him these videos years from now.

Also, I love how the boys are starting to play together.
It's so fun to watch them interact with one another and "talk" to each other.
I can already see the bond they are starting to form.
It's priceless.
Enjoy your Saturday afternoon.

I'm Spicing Things Up: Teriyaki Chicken and Pineapple Pizza

We love pizza at our house and we also love pineapple.
We usually stick with the same pizza creations but the other day I decided to try something new.

Here's what you need.
First start out with the Pioneer Woman's Pizza Dough.
It's my favorite and by far better than any store bought dough I have ever tried.
Plus it makes two batches and you can freeze one. Awesome.
Next boil some chicken, two breasts is good, and shredded it up.
Add some teriyaki sauce, just enough to coat the chicken.
Once you have to dough laid out spread a little bit of sauce over the dough, but not too much or it will be super salty.
Then add the chicken, cheese, and pineapple.
If you have a helper it's always better.
{He likes to throw the toppings and yell, "Score!". Such a boy.}
Then it's ready for the oven.
Bake at 500 for 8-10 minutes.
Voila!
{Really bad picture.}
It was super yummy!
We are definitely adding this one to the rotation.

I'm also linking up to Life Made Lovely.

Here and There.

I'm a bit all over the place today, so lets jump around in my head shall we.

If you don't already own Adele's new album, might I suggest you buy it today.
Amazing.
I think her voice is beautiful and she's gorgeous.

This is still the best purchase we have ever made.

I bought this fabric yesterday and they are turning into curtains very soon.

I plan on taking a stab at some hoop art with some of the leftover fabric and other fabric I have laying around the house. I don't sew. So it will be sew free hoop art.
I really love this.

When I saw this post over at Life Made Lovely, I knew I had to make a felt stove for Ethan.
We don't have enough room in our house for a play stove and I knew this would do the trick.
So far he loves it.

Alright, that's it for now.
Enjoy your day!

A Day of Fishing.

On Saturday, while everyone was still healthy, we met my grandparents for a day of fishing.
They were staying at Rancho Jurupa RV Park in Riverside for a couple of days and they had asked us if we wanted to come out for the day so Ethan could fish.
We of course said yes.
A couple of weeks before my grandpa brought Ethan an old small fishing pole he had in his garage. He got it all ready for him and for days Ethan practiced his casting and reeling in.
Needless to say, he was ready and excited Saturday morning.
As soon as we parked the car he was down by the lake ready to fish with great grandpa.
He would have my grandpa cast it out and seconds later he would be reeling it in again.
He caught a lot of "weed fish".
After a little while of catching no fish I distracted Ethan while my grandpa hooked a small little fish onto his pole and cast it out.
He was thrilled when he reeled it in.
Since the attention span of a two year old is not meant for fishing, we had to take a little break and head over to the park. The boys had no objection.
After a huge, delicious picnic lunch it was back to more fishing.
And then it happened, my grandpa caught a fish...finally.

Ethan helped reel it in and get it in the net.
He was so proud of himself.
He touched it and held it up high as my grandma and I took a zillion pictures.
I think he was a little confused by the whole thing but fascinated with how the fish looked out of water.
Jacob and I just watched from the sidelines. I'm sure he'll be a little fisherman soon too.
It was a great family Saturday.
We made wonderful memories with my grandparents that we will keep with us forever.
I'm so happy to have them in our life.
They love and care for the boys like they are their own and the boys love them back just as much, if not more.
I'm so thankful for the time we get to spend with them and the moments we get to share.

Sickie Sunday.

I have a sick little boy today.
He has a stuffy nose, watery eyes, and a sad, tired little face.
So we've been laying on the couch and watching movies for most of the day.
Poor guy.
I hope he's better by tomorrow.

Sweetness {Sugar Jumbles}.

It's no secret that I love dessert.
I love anything that's chocolaty, gooey, sugary, and sweet.
I just don't need to be eating it all as often as I do.
So once I week I'm going to indulge in my love for sugar and I will bake.
I love baking almost as much as I love dessert, so this is a win win for me.
I plan on baking some of my favorites as well as things I've never tried before, like a pie.
Pies scare me.
I don't know why but they do.

So this week I made an old favorite of mine, Sugar Jumbles.
I'm sure many of you have made these several times too.
I love that they are simple, good, and I always have the ingredients in my cupboard.

First thing you'll need is a helper. Mine's always at the ready.
Then cream together:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
In a separate bowl combine:
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
Add the flour mixture to the cream mixture.
Drop by the teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes.
The end result...
Add sprinkles if you wish, or don't, they're just as good plain.
And Enjoy!

Camping.

Howdy!
I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures from our camping trip a couple of weeks ago.
We had fun, got dirty, rode horses (not me), ate good food, and spent time with family.
Well I think I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

It was one good weekend.

A Belated Mother's Day.

Brett and the boys didn't celebrate Mother's Day for me this year on the actual day.
It was our last day of camping and we were traveling home and really that's no way to celebrate.
Brett had told me that I would get a belated Mother's Day this year, which was fine by me.
So Sunday was my day.
I didn't wake up with the baby and I slept in (well if 7am is sleeping in).
I soon was sat down at the table to this...
The paper, coffee, breakfast, and a basket filled with goodies for the day.
I also got freshly squeezed orange juice which has never happened. Nice touch.

Before getting ready for the day, the boys and I had a little jam session...

Then we headed out to lunch.
We went to one of our favorite spots, Wahoo's, and we ordered these...
Baja Rolls...So good!

We tried to get a picture of me with the boys...
At least Ethan was looking.

We loaded up in the car after lunch to find out the battery in the car was dead.
Usually stuff like this really irritates me but I think I was too relaxed to care.
My Grandpa came to our rescue and then we were on our way home.

I then left the house for a little alone time to shop and get a pedicure...
I can't remember the last time I had a pedicure. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep in the chair. I could have easily stayed another hour.

That evening the boys went to my Grandparents house and Brett and I headed out to dinner.
We had a gift certificate to a great fish restaurant in our area and ate until we were about to burst.
It was a fabulous day.
Hope all you moms had a wonderful Mother's Day too.

Cabo.

Cabo was great!
We relaxed, ate good food, drank lots of margaritas, slept in, walked on the beach, ate some more...it was just what we needed.
Instead of going on and on about the trip I thought I'd just share some of my favorite photos.
Enjoy.

this made me giggle.
