On Saturday, while everyone was still healthy, we met my grandparents for a day of fishing.
They were staying at Rancho Jurupa RV Park in Riverside for a couple of days and they had asked us if we wanted to come out for the day so Ethan could fish.
We of course said yes.
A couple of weeks before my grandpa brought Ethan an old small fishing pole he had in his garage. He got it all ready for him and for days Ethan practiced his casting and reeling in.
Needless to say, he was ready and excited Saturday morning.
As soon as we parked the car he was down by the lake ready to fish with great grandpa.
He would have my grandpa cast it out and seconds later he would be reeling it in again.
He caught a lot of "weed fish".
After a little while of catching no fish I distracted Ethan while my grandpa hooked a small little fish onto his pole and cast it out.
He was thrilled when he reeled it in.
Since the attention span of a two year old is not meant for fishing, we had to take a little break and head over to the park. The boys had no objection.
After a huge, delicious picnic lunch it was back to more fishing.
And then it happened, my grandpa caught a fish...finally.
Ethan helped reel it in and get it in the net.
He was so proud of himself.
He touched it and held it up high as my grandma and I took a zillion pictures.
I think he was a little confused by the whole thing but fascinated with how the fish looked out of water.
Jacob and I just watched from the sidelines. I'm sure he'll be a little fisherman soon too.
It was a great family Saturday.
We made wonderful memories with my grandparents that we will keep with us forever.
I'm so happy to have them in our life.
They love and care for the boys like they are their own and the boys love them back just as much, if not more.
I'm so thankful for the time we get to spend with them and the moments we get to share.
I'm linking up here...
