Jacob {in action}.

I can't believe how much Jacob is changing every day.
I have not taken much video of him, which I really should.
I swore I would never be that mom to have less photos and video of the second kid. I'm trying.

Here is some of what he can say these days.
Oh and he can flex his muscles.

He had just finished dinner which explains the mess.
Every day he says something new and he's communicating with us more and more.
It really is amazing to watch him learn and soak it all in.

He has also become quite the helper.
He needs to have something to do at all times.
He's not one for sitting and reading a book. He's on the move all day so I try to come up with as much for him to do as possible.
He really likes to help with the laundry, especially loading the dryer and it doesn't matter if the clothes are dirty, clean, wet or dry.

So that's our little man as of today.
Full of energy, excitement, giggles and mischief.
Oh how I love him so.

Preschool {the first day}.

Today was Ethan's first day of preschool.
Ever.
His first day of his first year.

I was fine.
Until I started getting him ready.
All of the sudden it hit me.
He's growing up and I can't stop it.
I started to cry as I was combing down his hair and he says to me, "What's wrong Mama?"
I said, "I'm sad because you are getting so big."
He then says, "Don't be sad Mama. We are a team."
Seriously?
I cried a little more.

I finished getting him ready, took his picture, and then we were off.
Before we went to his class we saw Abby and Radley.
I love that he goes to the same school as his cousins. They aren't in the same class but they get to hang out during recess time. They are all pretty happy about that.
Oh and a little info for you...I went to preschool here, as well as my sisters, and one of my sisters teaches elementary school here.
It makes me all the more comfortable leaving him for a couple hours.

The first day was a short day, only an hour and fifteen minutes, and the parents got to stay.
He walked right in like he owned the place.
He said hi to his teacher then said,
"Jacob is 1. I try to be nice."
Oh the things kids say.

He played in the sand table, cooked a little, made playdough, used magnets, and built with blocks.

After school he got to choose what he wanted for lunch.
He picked McDonald's.
And then we had Sugar Jumbles for dessert.
My treat to him for finishing his first day.
I'm so proud of him for a great first day, but still a little sad that he's growing so fast.

1 week old.

Jacob is 1 week old today.
I think he looks more like a 3 week old.
Ethan finally let me take his picture with Jacob today.
And he was such a ham about it. He kept saying, "again, again."
Could this picture really be any cuter? I love them!

How Time Flies.

I'm feeling crummy today.
My body can't decide whether or not it wants to get sick and I feel drained.
I feel sluggish and slow for no good reason. I don't want to be this tried. I want my energy and sleep back, but I know it will be long while before that happens.
Enough with my complaining and on to a couple of things...

My favorite little (well not so little anymore) cousin graduated from the 8th grade today. I remember changing his diaper, finger painting with him, taking him to feed the ducks, watching him play pee-wee soccer. And now he's going to be in high school. Where has the time gone?
It made me realize that before I know it Ethan will be in elementary school, junior high, and then high school, all in a blink of an eye. Time goes way too fast and I need to enjoy the littlest of things. So oh well if don't get the laundry done tonight or I don't make some fabulous dinner, I'm playing with the little guy tonight. And I'm going to soak it in and eat up and enjoy it, without thinking about all the things I could or should be doing. Oh and we will be watching the Lakers win the Championship game too.

Speaking of growing up and time flying by, Ethan started swim lessons this week. He pretty much just plays but his very lovely instructor makes him go under the water which I don't want to do. So far he's been doing great.
I really need to take some better pictures don't you think?

And apparently Ethan thinks he is big enough to ride a skateboard too.
Ok, well it's the little mini skateboard you might see under that foot of his, but he's clever enough to try to ride it. (Thank you Aunt Emily for taking this awesome photo).

I don't know if I feel any better after thinking about how my baby is growing up so fast, but it's the way it is and I can't stop it. So I'll enjoy every minute of it.
