Summer's End.

I know our summer isn't over quite yet, but I'm already sad for it's end.
This has been my first summer of being a stay at home mom.
I've loved it.
I've loved the freedom of doing whatever we want, whenever we want.
I've loved the lazy days, the long warm evenings, eating outside, spending time in the water, and soaking up the sun.
I plan on taking full advantage of the next 3 weeks before Ethan starts his very first day of preschool.

I'm just not ready for it all to be over, not yet.

I'm linking up here.

The Ice Cream Truck.

Nothing says summer like sitting on the front porch eating ice cream from the ice cream truck.

And sharing with your brother makes it even better.

I Love Summer.

Don't you?

Happy Weekend Everyone.

Swimsuits and A Diet.

The two go hand in hand, don't they.
Since the weather is getting warmer, and Brett and I are taking a little vakay down to Cabo in a couple of weeks, I've been thinking about both.

I found this cute, inexpensive suit at Target, which will do the trick for our upcoming trip.
But I really have my eye on these...

I love this teal top from JCrew.
I currently have an obsession with strips and this one piece from JCrew is just my style.
I'm in love with the yellow bow on this suit from Anthropologie.
It's from Anthropologie, enough said.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to cover up my middle and rear as best as possible since I have two young kids and the body to prove it.
Plus when you're running down the beach after your two year old, the more you're covered up, the less the chance of something popping out that shouldn't be shown.

Which leads me to thinking about a diet.
I've never been on a diet. I don't really like the idea of a diet.
I think if you deprive yourself of what you really want you'll ultimately crave it so bad you'll overdue it. Diets are great for some people and really work, but I just don't think they are for me.
But the choices I make can be better.
If I want a cheeseburger, I don't have to go to In n Out to get one. I can make a turkey burger at home.
If I want something sweet, I don't have to eat half a cake. I can have some fruit with a little sugar sprinkled on top.
Sure, I'm going to splurge now and again. I love food and I'm not going to sacrifice my love of food. I just need to make better decisions on my day to day choices.

I was hoping to be in better shape for our upcoming trip but with only a couple weeks left it's just not going to happen.
So I'm looking toward June 1st.
That should give me enough time to get myself on track and maybe lose a couple of pounds along the way.
And hopefully come summer, when I'm chasing kids down the beach, not too much will be flopping about.

Lunch & Summer.

Today we had lunch outside.
The weather the last couple of days has been wonderful.
Perfect.
Perfect eat outside weather.

It's not like we never eat outside, actually we do quite often, but I usually don't think twice about it.

But today, as we were eating outside, I started thinking about summer and all the fun stuff I'll get to do with the kids this year.
Last summer I was hugely pregnant with Jacob, and while I didn't work most of the summer, I didn't want to do much. No one really does when they are huge with their second child.

But this summer will be different.
I won't be working and I won't be pregnant.
We can go to the beach whenever we want.
We can pack up and leave for the River whenever we want.
We can go to the park whenever we want.
We can swim in my parent's pool whenever we want.
We can do whatever we want, whenever we want.

I can't wait.
Seriously, can't wait.

Beach Day!

My sister and I finally made it down to the beach on Monday. It was a bit colder and gloomy than we had hoped but the kids still had a great time.

I really don't want to let so much time go by before we go again and hopefully it will be much warmer out.

Evening Sprinklers.

I love living in Southern California.
In the summer, we get to do this at 7:30 at night.
We all ran through the sprinklers.
The joy on Ethan's little face when Brett and I ran around the yard through the sprinklers was priceless.
We will definitely be doing this activity a lot more throughout the summer.

Pool Time.

Summer has officially started!
Over the weekend we bought Ethan a new pool for the backyard.
He's pretty excited about. He wasn't too thrilled about the waterfall feature in the back so we had to turn it off, but once that went away he loved it. He thought it was pretty great that he could get in and out of it himself, and he liked practicing his kicks he's been learning at swim lessons.
I have a feeling we'll be spending a lot of time in his new toy this summer.

Summertime.

So I know summer isn't officially here yet but it's starting to feel like it around here.
Today we went to the park, swam at my mom's, played outside, ate watermelon, and did some summer inspired art. If that doesn't sound like summer I don't know what does.
