Sitting in the Grass.

I can't believe a whole week has gone by and I have not blogged even once.
Our days are already filling up quickly with holiday activities and it's only December 4th.
That's just crazy!
I'm sure over the next few weeks I will be spending less time on the computer and more time with friends and family, which is a good thing, I'm not complaining.

Today though, we had no plans.
Brett went to watch football with some friends so the boys and I just hung around the house.
I've been terrible about taking pictures of them lately so I grabbed my camera and we headed into the backyard.
I'm so thankful we live in a part of the country that is warm enough to be outside most of the time.
I think I would go crazy with these two in the house all day.

It seems like the leaves are falling from our trees much later this year, probably due to the warmer weather we have had. The boys spent quite a bit of time investigating the leaves, well Ethan more than Jacob. Jacob just had fun throwing them around.

I enjoyed sitting in the grass, soaking up the sun, wearing my Uggs.
I love them.
I started wearing them in the 8th grade and they are still my favorite thing to wear when it starts to get chilly.

The boys eventually started digging as it seems they always do.
I mean, what fun is it being outside if you aren't covered in dirt by lunch time?

Sometimes I forget to stop, sit in the grass and just relax, especially during the holiday season.
I'm glad I took the time today to just sit and play with the boys.
I know they need it just as much as I do too.

I Love Summer.

Don't you?

Happy Weekend Everyone.

Around Here {and some randomness}.

Here's what we've been up to and some random thoughts added in there for you.

We busted out the little pools and played in the water.

We started potty training Ethan.
Setting the timer and having him try to go every 10 minutes seems to be working the best so far. We're only on day 4, but it seems like forever.
Why can't they just come out knowing how to do this already?

We've been eating a lot of fruit.

Jacob has always been strong, but lately he seems to have super-baby strength.
Here's some action shots for you.

He gets so excited to climb in and then once up there he's so proud of his accomplishment.
Then he rests, for like one second.

I'm in love with this photo.
That's my grandpa in the back.
Ethan adores him.

I love having fresh flowers in the house.

My nieces are the cutest.

This picture makes me laugh.

This one too.

This picture makes me want to cry.
When did he get so big?

I've got a busy weekend ahead of me.
I'm seeing U2 in concert tomorrow with my very good friend who will be leaving the country for 2 years. It's the last time we'll be spending quality time with one another before she leaves. I've got a mixture of emotions about the whole thing, but I know it will be a fantastic night.
And then Father's Day festivities for Sunday.

Have anything fun planned for yourself? I hope so.
Have a great and wonderful weekend!

Grasshopper.

Yesterday there was a grasshopper in our backyard.
Ethan was amazed.
Every time it would jump he would yell and jump up and down himself with excitement.
The shrieking sounds that were coming out of this child was almost more than I could handle.

It was hilarious...
and it made for a very entertaining late Sunday afternoon.

Lunch & Summer.

Today we had lunch outside.
The weather the last couple of days has been wonderful.
Perfect.
Perfect eat outside weather.

It's not like we never eat outside, actually we do quite often, but I usually don't think twice about it.

But today, as we were eating outside, I started thinking about summer and all the fun stuff I'll get to do with the kids this year.
Last summer I was hugely pregnant with Jacob, and while I didn't work most of the summer, I didn't want to do much. No one really does when they are huge with their second child.

But this summer will be different.
I won't be working and I won't be pregnant.
We can go to the beach whenever we want.
We can pack up and leave for the River whenever we want.
We can go to the park whenever we want.
We can swim in my parent's pool whenever we want.
We can do whatever we want, whenever we want.

I can't wait.
Seriously, can't wait.

Worms.

A good portion of our morning was spent digging for worms.
I'm not a fan.
I don't consider myself a girlie girl but I don't like worms.
Ethan on the other hand has a new found love for them.
And bugs, and spiders, and mud, and dinosaurs.
Boy stuff.
But I'll keep my disgust for worms to myself and dig in our backyard, since it makes my boy so very happy.

You'd Never Know...

it's January if you came to my house today since,
we've been playing the water,

wearing shorts and splashing in the puddles,
sportin' our "flippies",
and having a "pic-mick" in the backyard.
But it is and we're loving it.

Well Hello Again...

It's been awhile since I have posted.
We've been a little busy around here these days.
The boys aren't really napping at the same time which mean I get less computer time, hence fewer posts.
So while I've been away this is what has been happening...

Ethan got new kicks. You can't tell but they're the high tops and I love them.

We started Jacob on rice cereal.
He's eating it like a champ and I was hoping it would make him sleep longer during night but that hasn't happened so far. I'm still keeping my hopes up.

Ethan's been doing his chores around the house.

Jacob loves his bumbo chair. It's one of the few things he actually likes and will stay in for more than 5 minutes. I'm so glad he's able to sit up now.

Jacob's getting better with not having to be held all the time, but sometimes in order for him to nap this is how we roll.

I let the kids play in the crib together. I'm sure some mom somewhere is cringing.

It's very warm and cozy outside today so we've been riding bikes and had lunch outside. Makes for one very happy 2 year old.

Oh, and while outside, my dog was going crazy behind our garage. I go back there and hello...
I'm not a fan of big dogs. They terrify me actually. I'm sure he can't jump over the fence but I freaked out and called Brett. He said there was nothing to worry about but I still want a taller fence.

And the best thing that has happened to us in the last couple of weeks...
my niece Lucy Ann was born.
She's so precious and tiny and perfect.
I'm really hoping to get some good photos of her with the kids tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.
It's crazy that in just 3 years my sisters and I have added 5 kids to the family.
I love that they're all so close in age and will grow up being the best of friends.
It makes me smile.
Now I'm off to read for a bit, in a messy house that needs to be cleaned, but I'm not doing it since I'm having a rare moment of both kids being asleep. Ta-Ta!
